Working with Kate Roberts
I wanted to extend my sincere thanks for the excellent session you recently organised on Health and Safety Culture for the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Your leadership, preparation, and ability to bring clarity to what can often be a complex and highly technical area made a significant impact on everyone who attended.
The session provided a timely and important opportunity for colleagues to reflect on how we collectively foster a positive and proactive culture of safety. Your focus on the behaviours, values, and shared responsibilities that underpin an effective health and safety environment resonated strongly across the Faculty. By emphasising the idea that safety culture is not simply about compliance, but about embedding good practice into everyday thinking and decision‑making, you helped frame the conversation in a way that was both accessible and motivating.
I particularly appreciated the way you structured the session to support open discussion. Encouraging colleagues to share their experiences, concerns, and examples of good practice made the event genuinely collaborative. The case studies you introduced provided a clear and practical lens through which to view the importance of risk awareness, communication, and accountability. It was also beneficial to hear your insights into how strong safety cultures develop over time, and how small, consistent actions contribute to long‑term improvement.
Your clarity around the Faculty’s responsibilities, coupled with the practical guidance you offered, has helped strengthen our shared understanding of what good safety leadership looks like at every level. Many colleagues commented afterwards on how valuable the session was in reaffirming the importance of creating an environment in which people feel confident to raise issues early, challenge unsafe practices, and support one another.
Most importantly, your work in organising and delivering this session reflects the strong partnership between AGAR and the Faculty. We greatly appreciate the time, energy, and expertise you invested, and the thoughtful way you aligned the session with our operational context and ongoing commitments. You helped reinforce not only the practical dimensions of health and safety but also the cultural ones, which are critical to sustaining a safe, supportive, and high‑performing working environment.
Thank you once again for your professionalism, your deep knowledge of the subject, and your willingness to engage so constructively with us on short notice. We look forward to continuing to work with you and AGAR as we strengthen and develop our teams across the Faculty.

Kate is an amazing coach – she takes the time to understand the context and people’s individual stories, then deftly guides with the right questions. I’ve seen her be very effective in both 1:1 and small groups (team building), where she does a great job ensuring everyone’s voice is heard and the tough conversations are faced into directly (in a productive way). I love how she makes strong personal connections and brings her full self without ever making it about her – she truly has an amazing gift for getting the best out of people. Would highly recommend Kate to any senior leader or organisation!
