Positive Wellbeing x Agar – The ‘How To’ Workshops

We are delighted to announce the continuation of our “How To” series in collaboration with our associate Dr Vikki Barnes. This collection of virtual workshops aims to equip yourself and your colleagues with the tools required to create your brilliant best. Using the cutting-edge science of Positive Psychology to focus our attention on happiness in order to become the best versions of ourselves. This series is made up of five 1.5-hour virtual sessions, each one costing £40 + VAT (a 10% reduction is available if you book all four remaining courses together). The sessions will be focussing on the following:

1 How To… Survive and Thrive | Tuesday 15th December 2020 – SOLD OUT

The first session in our series, back in December, focused on finding new ways to embed positivity into our lives, our relationships, our wider communities, organisation and cultures so that we’re able to ‘survive and thrive’. We learnt to do this by practising a positive, growth mindset through strategies that are simple, enjoyable and meaningful.

2 How To… Stay Connected | Tuesday 9th March 2021 | 10:00

Our second session explores the research surrounding how detrimental periods of isolation from others can be and how we can combat these effects. It can reduce our social networks, therefore limiting the social support that we’d normally access in times of need. We’ve seen a surge of loneliness lately too, one of the largest triggers for depression.

However, there are things we can do, even when we’re not able to be fully connected with our loved ones in the ways we’d like. There are plenty of ways we can connect with ourselves and with others in order to thrive. This session will focus on these techniques as well as exploring nature as therapy and utilising the power of mindfulness in order to stay connected and positive both with ourselves and those around us.

3 How To… Be Better Together |Wednesday 5th May 2021 | 10:00

Session number three focuses on reflection and development surrounding our relationships, particularly within our teams. As humans, we begin forming relationships from the beginning of our lives and invariably, some are healthier than others. Only as adults can we take a step back and reflect on those relationships and realise which are most beneficial to our wellbeing and why, this is particularly important when we think about our teams.

We know that we can’t control the behaviour of others, or how others treat us. What we can control is how we behave ourselves or how we respond to others. It’s within our power to adapt and flex our thinking and acting to help have the best experience of relating. In this session we’ll examine our relationships with others and look at ways to improve our social network and the support we give and receive.

4 How To… Find Your Purpose | Thursday 17th June 2021 | 10:00

There comes a time in each of our lives when we begin to ponder what it’s all about. We ask questions like “why am I doing what I do?” and “what’s the point of my job?”. When tough times arise, we can find it difficult to keep a sense of optimism and meaning for the things that we do, including our work but also aspects of our personal lives too. A healthy sense of purpose helps you to put things in perspective, to refocus on the things that are meaningful to you, and to move ahead with direction and enjoyment in life. Your sense of purpose or meaning is the motivation that drives you toward a satisfying future and the best version of yourself in the now.

In this session we will focus on creating a vision that focuses on building our best possible self. We will also explore our strengths and vales and how we can utilise these to leave a positive work legacy behind us as we progress and grow.

5 How To… Achieve Great Things | Tuesday 7th September 2021 | 10:00

Happy hormones are released when we achieve great things, or even when we achieve small things that we feel are positive. Often, we don’t spend enough time pausing and reflecting on the great things we’ve accomplished so far, we tend to hurry through our work tasks and home lives only really thinking about the next thing we need to check off the to do list. We need some new behaviours!

In our final session we’ll explore how to form new and healthy habits, set meaningful and achievable goals, gaining a sense of mastery and focus on the life that we want to lead. All of these improve our performance, success and mental health and ultimately create healthier and happier people in all aspects of our lives.

“You have exactly one life in which to do everything you’ll ever do. Act accordingly.”

Colin Wright
